Fayetteville
Cheryl Ann 'Cherie' Legatski Boudreaux, 63, of Fayetteville died July 14, 2008, at her home in Fayetteville. She was born March 11, 1945, in Queens, New York, New York. She was preceded in death by her parents, Mildred and Ted Legatski of Bartlesville, Okla. She was raised in Bartlesville, Okla., where she graduated from College High School in 1963. In 1966 she graduated from the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville, with a Bachelor of Fine Arts.
She is survived by her husband, Ray; three sons, J. David and wife Melissa of Madison, Ala., Stephen M. and wife Melissa of Lowell and Matthew A. and wife Wendy of Broken Arrow, Okla.; seven grandchildren, Mason, Nathan, Rachel, Madison, Emma, Ray and Savanna; and a brother, Ted Legatski and wife Marlene of Fort Worth, Texas.
For 25 years she served beside her husband in the U. S. Air Force, stationed at 12 bases across the country. Following their retirement from the Air Force, they lived 12 years in Rantoul, Ill., and then settled in Fayetteville.
Cher ie gave freely of her artistic talents to her church, community and numerous organizations where she volunteered. She designed a city mural, organized volunteers and led the effort for the City Hall in Lebanon, Ill., where citizens painted individual squares of the design to make the total work. She designed theater sets for community theaters in most communities where she lived, she heralded events with her artwork all over the countr y and was instrumental in laying the groundwork and developing the historical and interactive displays in the Rantoul Illinois Octave Chanute Aerospace Museum, culminating in her receiving the Studs Terkel Humanities Service Award in 2000 for outstanding volunteer leadership by the Illinois Humanities Council.
She was an active member and corresponding secretary of the BH Arkansas chapter of PEO and was a selfless caregiver to neighbors, community, church and others, but especially her family. She was a shining example of what a mother and wife should be: always caring, loving and fun. She cared more for the wellbeing of others than she did for herself. At her passing she was surrounded by her family who will greatly miss and always love her. There will be a celebration of her life at Sequoyah United Methodist Church at 2 p.m. on Friday, July 18, 2008. Cherie's family will receive family, friends and guests after her memorial service. Elkins
Geneva Belle Homesley, 90, of Elkins died Tuesday, July 15, 2008. She was born March 4, 1918, in Thorney to Clifford and Florence Gardner Kirksey. She was a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Homesley; and a son, David. Survivors include a son, Jerry Joe Homesley of Fayetteville; two daughters, Joyce Ann Stout of Tulsa, Okla., and Barbara Jean Geise of Elkins; seven grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. today at Beard's Funeral Chapel in Fayetteville. A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at Mount Olive Cemetery in Elkins with the Rev. Malvern
Bobby Dean Kirchoff, 74, of Malvern died Tuesday, July 15, 2008, at Baptist Medical Center in Little Rock. He was born Nov. 24, 1933, in Stuttgart. He served in the Navy aboard the USS St. Paul, had been employed by Safeway, was co-owner of Gibson's Discount Stores, and was currently owner of the Stanley Street Pawn Shop in Malvern.
Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Ann Mayville Kirchoff; two daughters, Deana Franklin of Hot Springs and Debbie Sharp of Siloam Springs; three sisters, Elsie Haller of Sun City, Calif., and Frances Blohm and Carolyn Mulloy, both of Stuttgart; two brothers, Walter Kirchoff and Merlyn Kirchoff, both of Stuttgart; and three grandsons.
Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Friday at Regency Funeral Home in Malvern. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home with the Rev. Ken Burton officiating, followed by a service at St. John's Lutheran Church in Stuttgart at 3 p.m. with the Rev. Jack Gillam officiating. Burial will be in Lone Tree Cemetery in Stuttgart. Broken Arrow, Okla.
Paul Ned Brooks, 75, of Broken Arrow, Okla., died Tuesday, July 15, 2008. He was born Aug. 23, 1932, in Childress, Texas. He retired from American Airlines in 1994 after 37 years of service. He was a U. S. Army veteran. He was a member of Broken Arrow First Baptist Church for 39 years. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge.
He was preceded in death by a son, Phillip Brooks.
Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Eunice F. Brooks; children, Mark Brooks, Penny Oller, Todd Brooks and Travis Brooks; a brother, J. Pat Brooks; two half sisters, Nancy Turner and Betty Sigler; and five grandchildren.
Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. today at Moore's Southlawn Chapel in Tulsa, Okla.
A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Memorials can be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
