HITTING TOURNAMENT

· A baseball and softball hitting tournament begins Jan. 10 at 9 a.m. hosted by the Arkansas Fusion will host a NWA indoor Baseball and Softball hitting tournament fundraiser for ages 9-15. Individuals, 2 person teams or entire 10-person teams can compete with awards provided to the top three places in designated age groups. TRACK OFFICIATING CLINIC

· The University of Arkansas Track Officials' Association will host a free officiating clinic on Saturday. Anyone interested in learning more about officiating track and field for the Razorbacks or on the local level is welcomed to attend.The clinic will run from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. at the Tyson Indoor track. SUMMERHILL QUICKSTART TENNIS

· Summerhill Racquet Club is offering quickstart tennis classes for kids ages 4-10 Classes run from January through February with a tournament to be held at the end of February. Sign up online at Summerhillac.com.

· Arkansas Baseball has released its Winter Baseball Camp Schedule:

Jan. 10, Intense Hitting Camp - 1-5 p.m - $175. Jan. 11, Intense Pitching Camp - 1-5 p.m. - $175.

FAST-PITCH PLAYERS NEEDED

· The Springdale Chicks are adding competitive fast-pitch softball players to fill in spots on the 2009 roster for their 14U travel team. Players should be born in 1994-95, bring a high level of intensity, be willing to make a long term commitment and expect to play a lot of softball.Tournaments are primarily played in Northwest Arkansas, Northeast Oklahoma and Joplin, Mo. GAELIC FOOTBALL

· The Northwest Arkansas Rovers Gaelic football team seeks new players in preparation for the 2009 season. Gaelic football is a fast-paced sport from Ireland that vaguely resembles a cross between soccer, rugby and basketball. The Rovers compete in the Nor American County Board against clubs such as Little Rock, Kansas City, and St. Louis. Training is co-ed and suitable for a wide range of ages. Some games will be played co-ed as well. There is no cost to play and no travel requirements though participation wi the travel team would be appreciated.
