Purple Dogs handle 7A-West rivals in 7-on-7 league play

Fayetteville was unmatched and undefeated in the third installment of the Monday Night 7-on-7 League at Harmon Field. The Purple Dogs whipped Rogers, Springdale High and West Fork to move to 8-1 in Monday Night League play.
Fayetteville quarterback Brandon Allen didn't throw a single interception compared to 8 touchdown passes. Allen connected on 27 of 40 passes Monday night.
"I can't find one area where I really fault our play," Fayetteville coach Daryl Patton said. "To be 8-1 in three weeks is pretty good. To beat Rogers and Springdale, two conference foes, is a great accomplishment. I thought our receivers caught the ball well and you can see Brandon get so much more confidence every time he steps on the field."
Fayetteville opened with a 30-7 shellacking of Rogers. Allen hit on 12 of 17 passes and 3 touchdowns against the Mounties.
"We played a lot of different kids," Patton said. "Demetrius Dean, Josh Hale, Quentin Smith, Franco Broyles and several others came up with big catches. Coy Holmes and Kellen Summers are so steady and will be there every week making plays."
Fayetteville's Alex Miller picked off the first of his three interceptions on the night against Rogers.
"I was pretty impressed with how well our defense played," Patton said. "That's probably what I was most proud of. I thought our defense came in and they were aggressively swarming the ball. We had 8 interceptions on the day. That's more than we've ever had in a three-game stretch."
Three of those eight picks came against Springdale High's Ashton Glaser, a Missouri commitment. Fayetteville handed the Red Dogs a 34-7 defeat.
"To play that well against Glaser, who some consider to be the best quarterback in the state, was big," Patton said. "Our defense really played well all night."
Allen completed 11 of 16 passing with 4 touchdowns against Springdale. Allen was 4 of 7 with 1 touchdown pass in a 25-7 win over West Fork.
Rogers QB Andy Courture completed 10 of 21 passing with 1 touchdown and 1 pick against Fayetteville. Rogers finished 2-1 on the night.
"We got off to a slow start," Rogers coach Ronnie Peacock said. "And 7 on 7 is so much about rhythm. We knew we would recover but we didn't make a first down on our first three possessions and that just never happens."
Courture was 18 of 20 with 5 touchdowns and no interceptions in a 37-21 win over West Fork. He capped the night with a 15-of-21 performance with 4 touchdowns and 1 pick in a 29-28 win over Springdale.
"The kids came back and did a good job," Peacock said. "Andy's had a good summer throwing the football. [Ethan ] Melton and [Michael ] Tibbs have both caught the ball well. But we're ready to be through with 7 on 7 and for football to start."
In other action, Springdale tied West Fork, 21-all.
