Decay seeks more time to file appeal

A convicted murderer awaiting the death penalty needs more time to file his appeal because the transcript from his trial is not completed, according to a motion filed Tuesday by his attorney.

Gregory Christopher Decay, 28, was convicted by a jury in April of two counts of capital murder for the shooting deaths of a Fayetteville couple.

Decay's attorney filed a notice of appeal May 7, but the court reporter has asked for an additional 90 days because the records cannot be prepared in time, according to the motion.
