Gentry City Council The Gentry City Council holds regular meetings in the city court room at 6: 30 p. m., the first Monday of each month. Due to the Labor Day holiday, the September meeting will be on Sept. 8. The Planning and Zoning Commission meets in city hall at 7 p.m. on the third Thursday of each month. School Board The Gentry School Board will next meet at 6 p. m., Monday, Sept. 22., in the primary school cafeteria. The annual report to the public will be presented, with the district school board meeting to follow. Springtown Council The Springtown Council meets at 6 p. m., on the third Monday of each month, in the new community building. Highfill Council The Highfill Town Council will hold its next regular meeting at 6: 30 p. m., Tuesday, Sept. 9, at the community building. Gospel quartet His Harmony, a gospel singing quartet, will be appearing in concert at 7 p. m., Sunday, Sept. 13, at the Gentry High School auditorium. Combs Street Singers, from Fayetteville, will open for the quartet. Admission is free, and refreshments will be served following the concert. The event is sponsored by area churches of Christ. Antique tractor show The 17 th Annual Antique Engine and Tractor Show is set for Sept. 5 through 7 at the club's show grounds on Taylor Orchard Road, southwest of Gentry. Admission if free. Farmers' market A Farmers' market is open on Tuesdays and Saturdays in Gentry, at the east side of the Chicken Coop parking lot, on Main Street near Arkansas Highway 59. Pickin' in the park Pickin' in the park is set for 6: 30 p. m., the last Saturday of each month through September. Musicians and music lovers are invited to come and join in or just sit back and enjoy the music. Lawn chairs are suggested. Senior center The Gentry Senior Activity Center is open from 9 a.m. to 4 p. m., Mondays and Wednesdays, in the new senior center building on Main Street, just east of the new library. Meals are served both days and are available by calling Jackie Bader at 736-2424. Singing services Monthly singing services at Falling Springs Church are held at 7 p. m., the first Friday of each month. Refreshments are served and everyone is welcome. The church is located northwest of Gentry on Falling Springs Road. Address markers Gentry Fire Department has reflective address markers available to help responders locate a home or apartment quickly in the event of an emergency. The reflective address markers are only $ 10 and are made to last for years. For more information, call 228-0694. Head Start Free childcare services are available to qualifying parents.
