‘What’s Up?’ stars visit school

DECATUR ó Television characters Papa Rap and DJ Torres visited the elementary and middle schools on Friday for a special character-building assembly focusing on responsibility.

Papa Rap and DJ Torres star in the childrenís show ì Whatís up ? Que Pasa ? î The bilingual show is in its second season and focuses on kids, 8-12, ìwith music the parents can dance to, î according to Papa Rap.

Papa Rap and DJ Torres rapped to several songs for the students with themes like feed your brain, and reading and writing. The third and fourth grade class performed a special song on the stage with the two television characters.

ì Sometimes we donít speak the same language, but if we can learn how to say, Hello, it can start building bridges, î Papa Rap said, as he helped the students practice saying, ì Whatís up, î in English, Spanish and Hmong.

ì Whatís up ? Que Pasa ? î is produced by Ozark Family Video of Springdale and broadcasts on over 80 television stations nationwide. Locally it airs on Fox at 7: 30 a. m., Tuesdays and Thursdays.
