The Bella Vista Property Owners Association's golf committee will have a steeper bill in 2009, Maintenance Manager Casey Crittenden announced Aug. 13.

Inflation has affected the prices of several products, most notably fertilizer, which will cause expenditures to increase.

Numbers given at the committee's monthly meeting on Aug. 13 show an estimated 64 percent increase if golf courses are not overseeded, and an 86 percent increase if the process is used. Neither estimate includes potential increases in gas prices.

In other business, the membership growth subcommittee gave its evaluation of instituting annual golf fees. The subcommittee - made up of golf committee members Louis Adler, Al Yanik and Butch Newby - reported revenue would decrease the first few years of the new plan, but would improve as players grew accustomed to the new system.

The final recommendation was that an annual fee is needed, but because of the decreasing number of total golf rounds and a slow economy, the POA should wait to implement any changes to the fee schedule.
