2008 overlay under way

BENTONVILLE - A portion of the city's streets will be repaved this year with a $ 225, 000 contract with Hutchens Construction. At its meeting Tuesday, the Bentonville City Council approved a contract with Hutchens for the 2008 overlay program. This year, the following six streets will be overlaid Southeast C Street, from Third to 14 th streets Southeast Sixth Street, from E to South Main streets Northeast S Street, from East Central Avenue to Brave Lane Northwest B Street, from Fifth Street to Park Springs Southwest F Street, from West Central Avenue to Fifth Street; and Northwest Fifth Street, from F to C streets.

Portions of the Wastewater Treatment Plant and Compost Facility, the Bentonville Street Department Sign Shop, and Memorial Park will also be paved as part of the overlay program.

In other business, the council approved the following items • A lot split for. 375 acres on the south side of Northwest 14 th Street, requested by Cindy Jack A property-line adjustment for Stroud's addition on the corner of East Central Avenue and Southeast F Street, requested by Daryle L. Stroud A rezoning request from residential (R-1 ) to C-3 for 107 S. E. 14 th St., requested by Alvin and Ila Namey A property-line adjustment for 107 and 109 S. E. 14 th St., requested by Alvin and Ila Namey A rezoning request from R-1 to neighborhood commercial (C-1 ) for 2403 S. E. Eighth St., requested by Dean and Jozanna Bartlett A public hearing and ordinance for a drainage and utility easement for Gary and Tamera Pickett A public hearing and ordinance for a drainage and utility easement for Randall Berg Adoption of the 2008 National Electric Code as adopted by the state of Arkansas Adoption of the 2006 Arkansas Plumbing Code as adopted by the state of Arkansas Adoption of the 2007 Ar-, effective Aug. 1; A resolution authorizing the city to enter an amendment of the professional services contract with Crafton, Tull and Sparks Consulting Engineers for the surveying component of the Northeast J Street interchange project in an amount not to exceed $ 313, 465; The Reconciliation Change Order and Final for the Southwest I Street and Eighth Street extension project in the amount of negative $ 459, 492. 69; Amendment of the professional services contract with Morrison-Shipley Engineers on the Southwest I Street and Eighth Street extension project, increasing it by $ 18, 934. 75; A resolution authorizing an extra-work contract with CEI Engineers in the amount of $ 34, 125 for the Southwest I Street project in conjunction with an agreement with Wal-Mart and Uptown Village LLC for the additional design services for extending the Arkansas Highway 12 portion of the project approximately 1, 000 feet farther to the west, with Wal-Mart and Uptown Village sharing half of the cost of the contract The awarding of a bid to Hutchens Construction in the amount of $ 224, 834. 50 for the 2008 street overlay A budget adjustment in the amount of $ 14, 000 and awarding a bid to Hutchens Construction in the amount of $ 13, 690 The awarding of a bid to Hutchens Construction in the amount of $ 83, 835 for the asphalt overlay of the parking lot at the Bentonville Wastewater Treatment Plant and 9, 900 square feet of asphalt pad expansion at the compost facility The acceptance of a bid from Hutchens Construction to overlay Memorial Park, using park bond money The awarding of a bid to Gastony Directional Boring Inc. for yearly underground boring blanket for the Water and Electric departments The purchase of BIDC's share of industrial park property; and An ordinance amending certain personnel positions and titles in the city of Bentonville pay plan.
